Reserve defender Kyle Walker is set for his first taste of the Football League after agreeing a loan deal to Northampton Town.
The 18-year-old defender, another Academy graduate, links up with the Cobblers ahead of their League One clash with Oldham Athletic at the weekend.
Sheffield-born Walker has started seven of eight United reserve team fixtures this season, including Tuesday's goalless draw with Nottingham Forest.
United's reserves currently lead the totesport.com League Central Division, despite Walker being the fifth young player to be allowed to further their development with a loan move.
Walker will remain at Northampton until Saturday 20 December.
