Kyle, the younger, steals record

Posted on: Wed 03 Jun 2009

Jock Dodds' long-standing record of being the youngest Blades player to have played at Wembley was smashed on 25th May 2009 - by the two Kyles.

And although Kyle Naughton beat the former United striker - who hit the bar in the 1936 FA Cup Final against Arsenal - by 36 days, he is not the new record holder.

Kyle Walker now has that accolade because he was still three days short of his 19th birthday when he played against Burnley in the Play-Off Final.

Both Sheffield born youngsters made the breakthrough at the Lane last season and gained England International honours, Naughton at U21 level and Walker in the U19 ranks.
